The stage is set for Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega!
On Wednesday, in Hertfordshire, England, the two actresses were seen on the set of Beetlejuice 2. They were filming a scene that seemed to depict a wedding. Ortega, who is 20 years old, was dressed in a gown adorned with tulle, which was white in color. This was in contrast to the red multi-tier ruffled gown that Ryder, who is 51 years old, wore in the original film.
Returning to her iconic role as Lydia Deetz from the 1988 film directed by Tim Burton, Ryder appeared in full gothic attire. She effortlessly captured Lydia’s essence with her signature black ensemble and even replicated her famous hairstyle, complete with edgy bangs.
In the month of March, numerous sources disclosed that Ortega was engaged in negotiations to take on a leading role in the film. Her character would portray the daughter of Ryder’s character, as reported by various media sources.
Following the official announcement of Beetlejuice 2 by Warner Bros., it was confirmed two months later that the actress from Wednesday would be cast as “Lydia’s daughter.” Additionally, Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as the mischievous character for this sequel.
Shortly after the announcement of Ortega’s role in the film, it was revealed that Monica Bellucci, who is currently in a relationship with Burton, 64, will be joining the cast of the sequel. Bellucci, known for her role in “Mafia Mamma,” will portray Beetlejuice’s wife.
The highly anticipated sequel, Beetlejuice 2, will feature the talented Justin Theroux in an undisclosed role. Additionally, the esteemed Catherine O’Hara, aged 69, will reprise her memorable character as Lydia’s peculiar stepmother, Delia Deetz.
In May, it was officially announced by PEOPLE that the sequel to the original horror-comedy, which will be directed by Burton, is set to premiere in theaters on September 6, 2024. This release date marks the passage of 36 years since the original film debuted.
