In 2020, Galder Gaztelu-Irrutia’s film The Platform both captivated and repulsed audiences on Netflix, earning it the distinction of being the most popular Spanish-language film in the streaming service’s history.
Today, via a tweet, Netflix revealed that a follow-up film is coming much sooner than expected, and they released a few new images to accompany the announcement.
Although there are no official details about the plot of The Platform 2, it’s highly probable that the movie will be even more ambitious and shocking than its predecessor.
From the initial images released, it seems that the sequel’s focus is on fresh personas. Two actors, Milena Smit who is also part of Netflix’s forthcoming production of Tin & Tina, as well as Hovik Keuchkerian who had a role in “The Night Manager”, are featured in the lead roles.
The sequel will be directed by Gaztelu-Irrutia once again. Carlos Júarez, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, and Raquel Perea from the Basque Films team will produce.
The beginning of the production for The Platform 2 has just been announced, and further information will be forthcoming. In the meantime, catch up on The Platform on Netflix, but it is advisable not to watch it on a full stomach.
