The next installment of The Conjuring Universe’s most profitable and grim chapter, The Nun II, is set to release this September. This week, the film was given an official “R” rating.
The classification of “R” is given to The Nun II, similar to many other films in The Conjuring Universe. This phrase succinctly conveys that the content in question contains elements of violence and terror.
In 2018, “The Nun” was also given an “R” rating by the MPA, for its depiction of terror, violence, and graphic imagery. This information is relevant for the purpose of comparison.

The upcoming horror film, The Nun II, directed by Michael Chaves (known for Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), will feature the return of Valak. Fans can look forward to the sequel’s release in theaters on September 8, 2023.
The Nun 2 will feature Taissa Farmiga reprising her role as Sister Irene, alongside the return of Bonnie Aarons as the infamous demonic nun, Valak. Storm Reid, known for her role in the TV series “Euphoria,” will also have a starring role in the movie.
The latest film showcases a script penned by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper. Goldberg and Naing, who previously worked on Eli and The Autopsy of Jane Doe, teamed up with Cooper, who wrote for M3GAN and Malignant, to create the screenplay. Cooper is also credited with developing the story.
