This afternoon, a fresh poster and trailer for “The Boogeyman”, a supernatural horror-thriller created by best-selling author Stephen King, were released. The film is a collaboration between 20th Century Studios and 21 Laps and is slated to premiere on June 2, 2023, in theaters worldwide.
“High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.”
The cast of the upcoming project includes Sophie Thatcher from “Yellowjackets” and Chris Messina from “Birds of Prey”. Other notable stars include David Dastmalchian from “Dune” and “The Suicide Squad”, Marin Ireland from “Y: The Last Man” and “The Umbrella Academy”, Vivien Lyra Blair from “Bird Box” and “Mr. Corman”, and Madison Hu from “Voyagers”.
The initial drafts of the script were penned by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, known for their work on “A Quiet Place,” and Akela Cooper, who contributed to “Malignant.” The team was later joined by Mark Heyman, who is recognized for his writing on “Black Swan.”
The production of the project is in the capable hands of Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps.
