We at Infamous Horrors got the chance to interview Peter Phok last week, who is an executive producer of a lot of Ti West films. Including The Innkeepers, The House of The Devil, and X. We talk about how he became an executive producer and his work relationship with Ti West, and his early days at Glass Eye Pix.
AJ Friar: Hey Peter, thanks so much for joining us today; I gotta say X is one of my favorite movies of the year so far.
Peter Phok: Thanks for taking the time to have me, I look forward to talking with you.
AJ Friar: You have been working with Ti West for so long, how did you two meet?
Peter Phok: It was the early days of my career when I was going to film school and we had a mutual friend, who introduced us to each other. At School of the Visual Arts We hit it off and then, of course, we ended up working together on Ti’s debut The Roost.
AJ: It’s been a while since we’ve seen Ti West return to the big screen, of course, he has been doing prolific work on horror tv series, how satisfying was it to see him return to his roots with X?

Peter Phok: Yeah, it was fantastic; you know like you said it’s been a few years, and when he decided to do X it was exhilarating to see the finished product as well, you know I was an executive producer on X but I was mainly in post-production with this film. I wasn’t able to be as hands-on as I was on past projects. Just seeing this though was mind-blowing, everyone did such a great job on X.

AJ Friar: Talking about the cast of X, Kid Cudi was in this and stole the whole show I thought! As well as Mia Goth, I don’t know if you wanna get into spoilers about the film, but man oh man what a performance from Mia Goth.
Peter Phok: Yeah, as you said Kid Cudi is in X but it’s more Scott Mescudi and not the persona of Kid Cudi, he did an incredible job as the star of the porno they were making within X. Seeing him crush it was astonishing. Mia Goth was also such an amazing actress for the film.
AJ: You know I messed up when I first saw X in theaters, I did not stay for the credits saying to myself, ah this isn’t a comic book movie I don’t need to say there won’t be any post-credits.
Peter Phok: haha, yeah, Ti made a joke about this being his cinematic universe. It was his idea from the beginning to make this into a universe with Pearl being the next movie we tackle and bringing more aspects to her character we can explore.
