This summer, Sony Pictures is going back into The Further with a fresh addition to the Insidious franchise.
Insidious: The Red Door is set to hit theaters nationwide on July 7, 2023.
Insidious: The Red Door will pick up with the Lamberts ten years after the last movie
“Josh Lambert (Wilson) heads east to drop his son Dalton (Simpkins) off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.”
Patrick Wilson, who played Josh Lambert in the first two movies of the franchise, is set to return in the fifth installment, but this time as the movie’s director – a revelation made in 2020.
The upcoming movie will see Patrick Wilson co-starring alongside Ty Simpkins as Dalton Lambert, who is reprising his role. Renai Lambert, portrayed by Rose Byrne, will also return for this year’s new film.
Wilson will make his directorial debut with this project, which features a script penned by Scott Teems (known for Halloween Kills) based on a storyline conceived by horror franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell (who also wrote The Invisible Man).
