We are pleased to confirm that Christopher Landon has now been officially appointed as the director for Scream 7.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it has been confirmed that Spyglass has chosen Christopher Landon to direct the seventh film in the well-established franchise. Landon is recognized as a prominent figure in the horror genre, having directed successful films such as the Happy Death Day series and the body-switching horror-comedy Freaky. The directors of Scream and Scream VI, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, will continue to be involved in the project as executive producers. Chad Villella will also remain as an executive producer.
The identity of the writer for Scream 7 remains unknown at this time. However, according to THR, Melissa Barrera and Mason Gooding are anticipated to reprise their roles in the film. As for Jenna Ortega, only the passage of time will reveal her involvement.
According to THR, the agreement made by Ortega is worth paying attention to, as she joined the franchise prior to her rise to stardom with Netflix’s Wednesday.
