Halo TV Review: [SXSW 2022 Coverage]

Halo is unfortunate to constrain itself to the playing itself molds of usual science fiction tv series you know from Star Trek and Star Wars spin-offs such as the Mandalorian and maybe Star Trek: Picard. If you’re starting a space odyssey it’s a safe bet to target a demographic in this age range.

That’s what Halo pulls off spectacularly in the pilot, I have yet to see the second episode of the season, however, I was sent both episodes of the premiere at SXSW, I did not have the time to visit both of them, I played some of the games with some friends early on in my teens although anything rated Mature was taboo in my household, I was able to play Halo when I went to my friends households.

So, I am not that familiar with the true backstory of Master Chief as some are so I cannot speak on that directly, but from what I know from other shows and series they do tend to keep in the same mold as the Mandalorian to keep people interested that are not involved with the IP as other people are, which is fine, but I wanted a little bit more out of the box mentally from the Halo pilot than what was delivered to us.

Overall grade: 2.5/5 stars
