Blumhouse’s Speak No Evil Gets Release Date

Universal Pictures has announced a new Blumhouse movie, “Speak No Evil,” with a release date of August 9, 2024. It takes the spot of the previously untitled Blumhouse movie.

“Speak No Evil” is an adaptation of the acclaimed Danish horror sensation “Gæsterne,” produced by Blumhouse, the company behind “M3GAN,” “The Black Phone,” and “The Invisible Man.” The story follows a family invited for a weekend at an idyllic country house, which turns into a snarled psychological nightmare.

The film is written and directed by James Watkins, the writer/director of the award-winning gothic ghost story “The Woman in Black” and co-creator, director, and writer of the International Emmy-winning crime series “McMafia.” “Speak No Evil” is based on the screenplay of “Gæsterne” by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. “Gæsterne” earned 11 Danish Film Award nominations, the Danish equivalent of the Oscars, after its release in 2022.

“Speak No Evil” stars James McAvoy, a BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee known for his roles in the “X-Men” franchise and “His Dark Materials,” who previously appeared in the Blumhouse-produced hit thrillers “Split” and “Glass.”

The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and executive produced by Paul Ritchie, Christian Tafdrup, Jacob Jarek, and Bea Sequeira. “Speak No Evil” is presented by Universal Pictures as a Blumhouse production.
