Shudder’s premiere of V/H/S/85 has broken records, and now the streaming platform has announced at the ongoing New York Comic Con that the franchise will continue with a seventh installment.
The upcoming installment will shift focus to the genre of sci-fi horror. In the upcoming unnamed sequel, the focus of the storyline will be on five additional terrifying recordings that will instill a sense of dread and fear among viewers. The horror genre will feature prominently in this science-fiction-inspired dystopian landscape.
The exciting Shudder Original Film is scheduled to debut in the year 2024. Following a record-shattering opening weekend for the latest addition to the franchise, V/H/S/85, which was released on Friday, October 6, and became Shudder and AMC+’s most-watched exclusive film premiere of 2023, the news was announced. This event drove Shudder’s largest acquisition day of the year on Saturday, October 7. In addition, viewership for the film on AMC+ increased by 25% compared to last year’s V/H/S/99.
The upcoming sequel of V/H/S will be produced by a team of professionals, including Josh Goldbloom from Cinepocalypse, Brad Miska, and James Harris who worked on the movie “47 Meters Down.” Michael Schreiber and Adam Boorstin, both executive producers from Studio71, are also part of the production team. On behalf of Shudder, Emily Gotto and Nicholas Lazo were the negotiators for the deal while Studio71 had Schreiber and Federico J. Blanco in charge of negotiations.
