‘The Wrath Of Becky’ Review: Another Bloody Good Time

Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.

Synopsis

‘The Wrath Of Becky’ is more of the same in a good way in the franchise that is ‘Becky’ in ‘Becky’ we saw comedic powerhouse Kevin James give an all time performance that floored audiences around the time Drive-In’s were beginning to reopen due to Covid. The directors intentions were clear to go the same route with giving us an actor who became a fan favorite Sean William Scott who stars in ‘The Wrath Of Becky’ as the main villain, we’ve grown to love Sean William Scott as Stifler from ‘American Pie’. The main difference here Sean William Scott has dabbled in dark territory before and quite recently with his performance in the underseen and underrated ‘Bloodline’.

Lulu Wilson, of course returns as the titular lol character Becky giving a fun over-the-top performance that can be considered Ryan Reynolds esque. The plot here is a pure satire of modern times with a group of “Noble Men” obviously referring or poking fun at “Proud Boys” led by Sean William Scott, in a menacing performance that will get under your skin as the muscle of the group. Fortunately for our heroin Becky nobody in this group doesn’t seem to have brains.

The real scene-stealer here is Aaron Dalla Villa(Pledge, and Trick) as DJ who somehow is a loveable jackass who you want to punch and laugh with at the same time. He brings a lot of of charisma to his villain in ‘The Wrath Of Becky’ which is a nice touch or everything may have ended up too repetitive from the previous ‘Becky’ movie. The kills are also great with practical effects that will take you back to retro films where they filled the camera lenses with blood. In the end ‘The Wrath of Becky’ is an enjoyable sequel with lots to offer the audience especially if you were fans of the first one.

Overall Grade: 4/5 Stars
