The official poster for The Meg 2: The Trench has been released today. This week, CinemaCon is taking place, where attendees get to see many exclusive first looks. Warner Bros. Discovery is unveiling a lot of exciting content this week, including highly anticipated horror movies such as The Meg 2 and The Nun 2.
As a refresher, The Meg is a 2018 science-fiction action movie directed by Jon Turteltaub and starring Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, and Rainn Wilson. The movie is based on the 1997 novel “Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror” by Steve Alten and follows a team of scientists who discover a megalodon shark, previously thought to be extinct. The shark begins to wreak havoc on a deep-sea research facility and a nearby beach.
Although the film received mixed reviews from critics, it was a box office success, grossing over $530 million worldwide. It is known for its thrilling action scenes and impressive visual effects, particularly in the portrayal of the massive prehistoric shark.
Personally, I was lukewarm on “The Meg,” but I did enjoy it as a popcorn action film. I hope the sequel can improve on the suspense.
