‘The Cellar’ review

Synopsis:

Keira Woods’ daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house. She soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.

Review:
The Cellar is unfortunately a mishap at every step it takes, for example, the story is completely dull to the point where it will make you want to go to sleep. The one thing to go into The Cellar for is Elisha Cuthbert, however, she cannot hold this picture together. For all, it’s worth Elisha Cuthbert and Tara Lee do try their best to showcase their talents.

Pacing is also the film’s weakness as it’s dreadfully slow and mundane. Brendan Muldowney did a disservice to this film by not showing any ambition at all for The Cellar, at times it feels like it could have been a lifetime movie of the week.

I hate tearing movies down, I tend to like to highlight what they had going for them, even if it wasn’t that great. Unfortunately, this film didn’t have a lot to highlight. It is currently streaming on Shudder if you’d like to check it out for yourself.

Overall Grade: 1/5 stars
